On August 30th, the China National Textile and Apparel Council announced the proposed award list for its Science and Technology Awards. The project "Key Technologies and Applications for Functional PLA Fiber Preparation," in which EsunFiber (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.participated, was recommended for the second prize of the Technical Invention Award.

On January 19th, 2024, Shenzhen Esun Industrial Co., Ltd. (brand "eSUN") officially signed a cooperation agreement with Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology on the "PLA Side-by-Side Composite Fiber Project." Moving forward, both parties will continue to collaborate in various fields on the functional development and application of PLA fibers to further promote the healthy development of the PLA fiber industry.

Innovation is the driving force for a company's survival and development. In recent years, eSUN has achieved significant progress in the research, development, and production of PLA fiber products.

Previously, the project "Efficient Biosynthesis of PLA and Fiber Preparation and Application Technology," in which eSUN participated, won the first prize of the China National Textile and Apparel Council's 2023 Science and Technology Progress Award. Additionally, eSUN's globally pioneering "Continuous Polymerization Melt-Spun PLA Fiber" was recognized as a "National Key New Product" by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Over the years, the company has accumulated rich experience in the research, development, production, and application of PLA filament, staple fiber, and non-woven fabric products. The company has already built the country's first 10,000-ton continuous polymerization melt-spun PLA fiber production line and a 1,000-ton PLA staple fiber non-woven fabric production line. This is also the world's first industrialized production line for thermally bonded PLA non-woven fabric.

eSUN's PLA fibers and non-woven fabrics are industry leaders, particularly in PLA bicomponent fibers, which stand out as a leading and distinctive product. The company is the first to achieve large-scale production and sales of both single and bicomponent PLA fibers, as well as differentiated products.

In recent years, under the "Dual Carbon" strategic goals, PLA fibers, as a relatively mature and widely used biobased degradable material, have seen rapid development in downstream applications within the textile industry.

 Known as "eco-friendly fibers," PLA fibers combine the advantages of both natural and synthetic fibers. Against the backdrop of green development, PLA fibers and non-woven fabrics can be widely applied across various industries:

1.Sanitary Products:

Such as the top layer, diversion layer, and bottom layer of sanitary napkins and diapers, as well as makeup removal pads, wet wipes, facial towels, mask fabrics, and more.

2.Apparel Fabrics:

①Sports and Casual Wear: DTY low-elasticity knitted fabrics (e.g., polo shirts, T-shirts).

②Underwear: Interwoven or blended fabrics, challenging the traditional exclusion of polyester fibers in underwear, offering better shape retention and safety.

③Children's Wear: Hypoallergenic, skin-friendly, and flame-resistant, all essential elements of modern children's clothing.

④Other Applications.

3.Home Textiles and Toy Fillings:

①Fillings for quilts and pillows: Represented by hollow PLA staple fibers, which can be pure PLA or blended with other fibers, replacing existing polyester-related fillings.

②Bed Linen Fabrics (interwoven, blended, etc.): These fabrics leverage their skin-friendly, non-irritating, and hypoallergenic properties, overcoming the shortcomings of polyester/cotton fabrics, and offering better dimensional stability, easy washing, quick drying, and easy care compared to all-cotton fabrics.

4.Medical Supplies:

Masks, protective clothing, medical gauze, bandages, bed sheets, and high-end antibacterial products, etc. 

5.Other Applications:

Packaging materials, agricultural fabrics, sand barriers, filtration tows, decorative panel bonding, and more.
